Dr. Xiaofeng Jia Awarded New NIH RO1 Grant

Dr. Jia has been awarded a Research Project Grant Program (R01) from National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS). The award provides total $1.7M over a five-year period.

This project will develop and optimize a novel glycan-based intervention via metabolic glycoengineering to promote neural stem cell interaction in vitro, and to improve neurological outcome after cardiac arrest. It will track the fate of transplanted neural stem cell and explore related mechanisms with improved cell survival.

Dr. Jia collaborates on this project with Dr. Kevin J. Yarema, Associate Professor, Departments of Biomedical Engineering, Johns Hopkins University.
